Description: The scheme consists of the reordering and extension of the ground floor of this generously scaled property on Herondale Avenue. The existing semi-detached home is rich with Art-Deco inspired details, which in turn has influenced the scale and nature of the proposed interventions. The project comprises the conversion of an existing kitchen and dining space on the west side of the ground floor into a kitchen and utility space, as well as a rear extension across the width of the rear elevation to provide a combined kitchen / living / dining space overlooking the generous rear garden. The purpose of the work is to provide a more flexible suite of living spaces to allow the family to gather together comfortably in a multi-purpose family room overlooking the rear garden. The extension takes the form of a simple, single story structure to the rear of the property, designed to harmonise with the character, form and materiality of the existing building.
