Project: Hope Farm, Kent

Description: The existing building at Hope Farm has been in the family for several generations, and has reached a state of significant disrepair. Following a feasibility exercise, it was determined that the only option which allows the family to create an appropriate home which meets their needs and which offers contemporary standards both in terms of accommodation and sustainability is to rebuild.

In line with planning guidance, the clients intend to build a replacement home on the footprint of the existing house. The proposals are designed to protect the character of the countryside and the integrity of the landscape. With only a modest enlargement of the existing footprint, this growing family can achieve a home which will allow them to stay in the area which has been home to their family for generations.

Hope Farm is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As such, great care has been taken to provide a dwelling of an appropriate scale, form and materiality which will not only minimally impact, but which will positively enhance its site.
