Project: St. Andrew’s RC Primary School, Streatham, London.Classroom Project.

Description: The new single storey classroom building is located on the western boundary of the site on an under-utilised plot of land adjacent to the former nursery block. The proposals comprise a modest single additional flexible classroom ‘hub’, required to serve the contemporary needs of the school and wider community, providing a flexible teaching space linked internally to covered external play space on the two ‘playground’ sides of the building.

The form of the building has been designed to adopt the eaves heights and building lines of the structures adjacent and opposite, ensuring that the positioning, scale and massing of the new building work well in the context.

In terms of its appearance the structure has a light and playful aesthetic, in the manner of a ‘free standing’ pavilion.

Status: Planning.
