Project:St. Andrew’s RC Primary School, Streatham, London.

Description:The scheme provides a generous, secure and accessible new entrance to the school. Increasing pupil numbers and a desire to improve safety and accessibility for those entering and leaving the school have driven a design solution which creates a sheltered zone, off the pavement, for parents to wait comfortably with their children in the morning prior to the opening of the inner gates, and which allows large numbers of pupils to enter or leave using wide, shallow, one-way ramps. A clear polycarbonate roof makes the most of morning sun for those waiting, built in seating provides comfort, and robust materials for surfaces, handrails and built-in furniture will ensure longevity and ease of maintenance.
